Household Borrowing Monitor (Jan.)

Ostensibly, January’s household borrowing figures suggested that that the pick-up in credit growth seen in recent months is tailing off. However, the bad weather in January is likely to have played a role in dampening activity. On a more positive note, the latest data provides further evidence that the Funding for Lending Scheme (FLS) is continuing to have a beneficial impact on some borrowing costs.
