There is probably a greater chance of Angela Merkel becoming Prime Minister of Greece than the MPC raising interest rates this month. And while a couple of MPC members look set to respond to the recent pick-up in earnings growth by voting to hike rates soon, a building revival in productivity and the renewed fiscal squeeze should ensure that a majority does not join them until 2016.
