MPC to embark on quantitative easing

February’s Inflation Report confirmed that the Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) intends to implement a significant further policy stimulus. We still think that some of this will come about through a further cut in interest rates – we expect another 50bps cut at this meeting. But the main story now is quantitative easing and the Committee is likely to vote to press on with this as soon as possible.
