Today’s decision by the Central Bank of Iceland to cut interest rates is likely to be followed by another cut later this year. Granted, strong economic growth will put pressure on domestic inflation. But we think that the CBI is still underestimating the likely appreciation of the króna, which will pull down import prices and mean that overall inflation remains some way below the Bank’s target.
