The Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) announced it kept interest rates on hold on Thursday evening and, with inflationary pressures building, the CBE is likely to refrain from cutting rates in the near term. Even so, very high real interest rates and the likelihood that inflation will drop further below target in Q4 should re-open the door for easing late in the year.
