Despite the fall in inflation in December, the Central Bank of Egypt decided to keep interest rates on hold at its meeting today. We think it’s unlikely that today’s decision marks the end of the current easing cycle. Indeed, we expect inflation to continue to fall which should allow the CBE to cut interest rates further in order to support the fragile economic recovery.
