The Mexican economy has slowed since the start of the year, taking some of the shine off of one of Latin America’s more positive growth stories. Nonetheless, we expect the economy to rebound later this year, and continue to believe that Mexico will outperform Brazil over the next 3-5 years. A key reason for this is the new wave of economic reforms that have been announced since President Enrique Peña Nieto came to office in December. In this month’s Latin America Watch we review the measures that have been announced so far and assess what steps the government might now take.
