Brazil & Chile Consumer Prices (Oct.)

The larger-than-expected drop in Brazilian inflation last month will come as a welcome relief to policymakers but is unlikely to prevent interest rates from rising further over the coming months. Elsewhere in the region, the sharp jump in inflation in Chile was due largely to food and energy and should prove short-lived. Even so, further policy easing to help revive growth will have to wait until next year.
