Consumer price inflation is likely to have risen in April, due in large part to a rise in fuel inflation. Core price pressures are also continuing to build. We are one of only a handful of forecasters expecting the RBI to tighten policy before the end of 2018 in response, and have pencilled in a rate hike in October. But there is a growing chance that the central bank acts sooner than even we are currently forecasting.
