India’s economic diversity and the decentralisation of policymaking power mean that investors should keep an eye on developments at the state as well as the national level to understand trends in the economy. To this point, while a report from the RBI released this week tells us little that we didn’t already know about what has happened to overall investment in recent quarters, its information on private investment at the state level is more revealing.
