Broad money and private sector credit have continued expanding steadily in recent months. In advanced economies as a whole, credit has been growing rapidly while in emerging economies it has slowed but only gradually over the past five years. Overall, monetary developments do not offer much support for those who believe that the world is heading for a new recession.
