Despite weaker survey data, the ECB is in no hurry to sanction further measures to boost euro-zone growth. It feels the existing accommodative policy stance is providing the region with the basic tools it needs for sustainable recovery. But national governments have to play their part too – and in Mr. Draghi’s view, fiscal austerity is the best way to achieve prosperity in the long term.
