We think the dispute with Hungary and Poland over the EU’s multiannual budget will be resolved one way or another and the EU will start to disburse the Recovery Fund during the first half of next year. This will lift GDP a little in some countries over the next few years, but will have only a small impact on debt dynamics. For the time being it will continue to fall on the ECB to ensure fiscal sustainability.
