The European Commission is expected to launch official procedures against France, Spain, Greece and Ireland tomorrow for their breach of the Stability and Growth Pact (SGP). Each country will surely be granted quite some time to get its finances back into shape, but the EC’s tough stance supports the view that fiscal support will not be as forthcoming in the euro-zone as elsewhere.
