Emerging Market Capital Flows Monitor

Portfolio outflows from several EMs have intensified over recent weeks as fears over a re-run of the “Taper Tantrum” appear to be playing on investors’ minds. But outflows are currently much smaller than they were in 2013 and, even if there were a similar period of turmoil, the macroeconomic fallout for EMs would be much less severe this time round.
