While keeping interest rates on hold today, Turkey’s central bank is maintaining its policy of gradually easing monetary conditions. But given the combination of a still-large current account deficit and a sharp rise in short-term external debt, we would not be surprised if the Bank is forced into tightening policy once again later this year.
