Romania: NBR recommences its easing cycle

This morning’s decision by the National Bank of Romania (NBR) to cut interest rates by 50bps to 7.5% is likely to be the first of a number of cuts over the coming months. While any further political turmoil could yet hold up the easing cycle once again, we are sticking to our view that rates could still fall to 6% by the end of the year.
