The financial markets have shrugged off signs that the Czech Republic may be heading towards fresh elections that could ultimately derail fiscal consolidation plans. This makes sense. For a start, the current government may still muddle through. And even if the political rupture does lead to some fiscal slippage, this is likely to be modest and could provide a timely boost to the struggling Czech economy.
