Russia stands out as the only economy in Emerging Europe currently experiencing rapid credit growth. In fact, the Central Bank is starting to worry about the risks of a credit bubble developing. We share some of its concerns but think that mounting liquidity shortages in the banking system, coupled with a broader economic slowdown, should mean that lending starts to ease over the coming months.
