Better governance needed for Turkish income “convergence”

Improved governance appears to have been a key ingredient in Turkey’s economic success story over the past decade. But further reforms will be needed if Turkish incomes are to continue “converging” with those of developed countries. In this context, it is worrying that the government’s reformist zeal has been waning in recent years and that the recent political crisis could lead to backsliding.
