Czech & Hungary CPI (May)

Stronger-than-expected inflation figures for last month in both the Czech Republic and Hungary will remove any lingering concerns about deflation. However, large amounts of spare capacity will keep inflation low over the coming 18 months or so, allowing policymakers to keep monetary conditions extremely loose. Indeed, we still expect a further rate cut in Hungary at the MPC meeting later this month.
