Next rate move in Australia will be a cut

We think that Australian interest rates will be cut by the end of this year and eventually fall to 6% (from 7.25%) by the end of 2009. In contrast, the markets are currently pricing in a 75% chance that the Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA) will raise rates by a further 25bp in the next 12 months.
