Supply prospects diverge again

Dollar strength and fears about demand, particularly from China, continued to overshadow commodity markets last month, but the biggest moves in prices can largely be explained by supply-side developments. Worries about the impact of bad weather boosted the prices of some agriculturals, whereas ample low-cost production led to further falls for iron ore, steel and aluminium.
