The prices of commodities continued to fall in November, pummelled by the strength of the US dollar and persistent concerns about a hard landing in China. While supply-side developments explain the relative strength of some agricultural commodities, news of output cuts in China only gave a temporary lift to metals prices. Meanwhile, precious metals will probably continue to struggle until the Fed’s first rate hike is behind us.
