The recent resilience of US real estate investment trusts (REITs) seems to reflect both easing concerns about the Omicron variant and a net decline in long-dated Treasury yields. Although we expect the latter to creep higher over the next couple of years, we nonetheless expect US REITs to outperform ordinary US equities, as commercial property markets remain strong and high valuations limit the gains in stocks.
