South Africa faces lasting energy crisis

South Africa’s energy crisis has grabbed headlines over the past month, with Finance MinisterNlahnlah Nene citing the situation as one factor behind the government decision to cut its 2015 growth forecast from 2.5% to 2.0%. The government is waking up to the scale of the crisis, but the situation is likely to last for some time. This is yet another reason to expect sluggish GDP growth over the coming years.
