Industrial Production (Sep. 2024)

The fall in manufacturing output in September was entirely due to the disruption caused by the Boeing machinists’ strike and Hurricane Helene. Indeed, with these impacts excluded, industrial production would have risen last month. That said, with the Boeing strike ongoing and Hurricane Milton following firmly on Helene’s tail, production is unlikely to recover strongly this month.
