The Brazilian mid-month inflation figure for December was unchanged from the November full-month figure of 5.9% y/y, which provides an early sign that the big falls in inflation have now happened and it will be a much slower grind lower from here on. We think that Copom will only feel comfortable turning to interest rate cuts around the middle of next year.
