The EC’s Economic Sentiment Indicators for Central and Eastern Europe for August continued the trend in recent months of very weak data releases for the region and point to a sharp slowdown in GDP growth in Q3. With monetary conditions tightening, energy prices surging and external demand weakening, we think it is only a matter of time before some of the region’s economies slip into recession.
