China metals demand unlikely to pick up soon

The January survey data out of China point to a revival in oil demand, but relatively flat metals demand. This is consistent with our view that the recent rally in metals prices is a little premature. We think prices will rise more sustainably later this year as exports and construction-related activity start to rebound.
