Although the tax hikes and spending cuts that constitute the fiscal cliff aren’t due to take place until the start of next year, businesses are increasingly stating that the resulting fiscal uncertainty is already hitting sentiment and activity. This is one more reason to expect GDP growth to remain muted in the second half of this year.
