In addition to the direct boost to GDP from homebuilding, the housing recovery has started to provide an indirect boost by supporting both industrial activity and employment. The possibility that the housing recovery proves to be stronger than we expect is perhaps the most significant upside risk to our forecast that GDP will expand by 2% this year.
