Stamp duty – a case of words speaking louder than actions

Rumours that the Government is preparing to take action on stamp duty are gathering ground, with a number of papers reporting the story today. But, while a fundamental reform of stamp duty would no doubt prove popular, that does not appear to be on the agenda. And, in any case, tinkering with stamp duty is not a solution for the market’s current problems.
