Crunch time for the Government

With the Europe issue now kicked into the long grass of the next Parliament, politicians can hopefully get back to addressing the bigger issues affecting the economy at the moment. After all, EU speech aside, last week was a pretty dire one for the Government. Not only did the preliminary estimate of GDP show the economy contracting by 0.3% in Q4, but public sector borrowing came in above last year’s level yet again.
