Why haven’t UK interest rates fallen as far as elsewhere?

During the financial crisis, many countries cut official interest rates to below the 0.5% level seen in the UK. If they can reach this level elsewhere, we do not see why they cannot do so in the UK. Accordingly, a further cut in Bank rate remains one potential weapon in the MPC’s arsenal.
