Fear of another Winter of Discontent overdone

Fears are growing that the UK is heading for a repeat of the damaging industrial action that characterised the so-called “Winter of Discontent” in 1978/9. However, we doubt that the damage to the economy will get anywhere near that seen during this period of the late 1970s.
