Weak economic outlook points to prolonged rental stagnation

Rather than the direct measures announced (e.g. REIT changes), the more relevant aspect of the Autumn Statement for the commercial property sector was probably the confirmation that a strong economic recovery remains some way off. As such, broad-based rental growth is not imminent. Even so, the economy should be expanding enough to allow nominal rents at least to find a floor in 2013.
