Last night’s decision by the Central Bank of Brazil to slow the pace of interest rate cuts suggests that we are getting close to the end of the easing cycle. Nonetheless, we continue to expect the benchmark Selic rate to be lowered further over the coming months and, more importantly, suspect that a weak growth outlook will prevent it from being hiked as quickly as the market expects.
