Inflation in Brazil appears to be accelerating once again, and may have been as high as 6% y/y last month. A combination of droughts and a weaker exchange rate are contributing to the problem. But the underlying issue remains that constraints on the supply-side of the economy have pushed up core inflation. This means that inflation will remain high, even as growth stays weak.
