Argentina: second-half recovery looks like wishful thinking

Despite government efforts to stimulate the economy, there is scant evidence of a rebound in Argentine growth. Rampant inflation is eating into real wage growth and squeezing household spending, while controls on access to dollars have led to a collapse in real estate activity. We continue to expect little or no GDP growth this year and are forecasting a 2% contraction in 2013.
