Argentina: fiscal monetisation to drive inflation higher

There are some parallels between the money printing being undertaken by Argentina’s central bank (BCRA) and quantitative easing policies in the West. But in contrast to the developed economies, Argentina’s monetary transmission mechanism does not appear to be impaired, meaning that changes in the monetary base are more likely to feed through to an increase in broad money and inflation.
