Brazil & Chile Consumer Prices (Feb.)

Brazilian inflation surged to its highest annual rate in a decade last month and the relentless increase, coupled with the recent sell-off in the real, bolsters the case for interest rate hikes to continue at the current pace of 50bp. Meanwhile in Chile, while annual inflation edged down last month as expected, the climb in core inflation reinforces the case for a prolonged rate pause.
