With recent activity data weak and inflation low, the consensus has swung around to our long-held view that the Reserve Bank of India will cut interest rates again this year, with the upcoming meeting on 29th September now looking the most likely venue. But the RBI is still hoping to bring inflation down further over the medium term, and so we suspect this move will mark the end of the current loosening cycle.
