Taking stock of the GDP revisions

Revisions to India’s historic GDP data have been greeted with both cheers and bemusement. One of the more puzzling aspects is that nominal GDP in the last fiscal year was left all but unchanged by the revisions, despite faster growth. Meanwhile, the faster growth rates do not square with other indicators showing continued economic weakness.
