Whereas the collapse in Chinese equity prices sent global markets into meltdown last summer, they have begun to drive the outperformance of the MSCI Emerging Markets Index in recent weeks. A shift in expectations for US monetary policy, or renewed fears about China itself, could shake investor confidence in the months ahead. But for the time being, we think EM equities will continue to shine.
