Italy: is the prognosis terminal for Europe's sick man?

In recent months, the outlook for the Italian economy has deteriorated at an alarming pace. While economists are unanimous in their view that Italy will continue to lag well behind the euro-zone, we remain particularly gloomy. Indeed, unless Italy can quickly implement much-needed economic reforms it may start to lose ground to the rest of the euro-zone at an even faster pace.
