ECB President Jean-Claude Trichet will use Thursday’s post rate-announcement press conference to signal another rise in interest rates at the following meeting in July. But with growing signs that the euro-zone’s economic recovery is starting to lose steam and the peripheral debt crisis continuing to deepen, we still believe that interest rates will remain rather lower than the markets are currently anticipating over the next few years.
