Russia’s economy still struggling at the end of 2013

The raft of Russian activity data for December suggests that GDP growth may have picked up a little to around 1.5% y/y in Q4, from 1.2% y/y in Q3. For the year as a whole, this would imply average growth of 1.5% which would mark the Russian economy’s second worst performance in fifteen years.
