We think a pan-regional IMF or EU-led bailout fund offers the best way out of the bout of indiscriminate selling that has gripped markets in the Emerging Europe in recent weeks. But for now, at least, political resistance in both West and East Europe is likely to scupper such a plan, and currencies are likely to remain under pressure across the board.
