Taiwan’s central bank in no rush to raise rates

Taiwan’s central bank (CBC) decided to keep its policy rate on hold today at 1.375% against a backdrop of strong economic growth and low inflationary pressures. The fairly dovish tone of the CBC’s accompanying statement, which highlighted increasing external risks to the economy, reaffirms our view that interest rates will remain unchanged for a while yet.
